Larry Donald Vanhauten

Hortense – Larry Donald VanHouten, 79, of Hortense passed away Saturday (August 22, 2020) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA.

Born in Lakeview, Michigan, his parents were Theo VanHouten and Onalee Ribble Vanhouten. He is also proceeded in death by a son Gary VanHouten.

He was a member of Sterling Church of God and a mechanic for General Motors where he retired. He loved mechanic work, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife; Donna Ockert VanHouten, a son and daughter-in-law; Theodore VanHouten (Connie) of Hortense, a daughter; Melissa Newsome of Gainsville, GA., 4 grandchildren; Christopher Newsome, Jordan Newsome, Travis VanHouten, and Amber VanHouten Coffey, 9 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law; Robert VanHouten (Geneva), 2 sisters and a brother-in-law; Joyce Wilcox (Roger) of Sherdian, Michigan and Judy Morris of Ionia , Michigan. Also, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules of social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (August 29, 2020) at 1 PM at the Sterling Church of God in Brunswick, GA.
