Patterson – Larry Roy Rowell, 74, of Patterson passed away Wednesday afternoon (October 26, 2016) at his daughter’s residence after a brief illness.
Born in Waynesville, GA his parents were Roy and Verdie Mae Rogers Rowell.
Mr. Larry was a butcher for many years and a charter member and deacon of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church. He was affectionately known as “PaPa” and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, listening to gospel music, reading his Bible and doing his families genealogy . Larry was a kind and loving man with a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Johnny Faye Rowell of Patterson; 2 children and their spouses, Sidney & Tim Crawford of Patterson and Andy & Tonia Rowell of Thomasville; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Crawford (Maven), Kayla Simpson (Bill), Tatum Crawford (Kelsey), Kacie Tussey, AJ Rowell, Layton Rowell, Mattie Crawford, and Emberlynn Rowell; 9 great grandchildren, Allison “Allie” Dinkins, Jessie Tussey, Hudson Crawford, Caydon Fulton, Anniston Crawford, Cameron Guy, Rayla Crawford, Dawson Crawford, and Lucas Simpson; a brother, Clinton Rowell of Hortense; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda & Ken Blevins of North Carolina, Charlotte & Tony Rocha of Brunswick, Marba Jean & George Bishop of Hortense and Tina & Larry Pafford of Hortense; 2 uncles, Herbert Rogers of Brunswick and Charles Rogers of Columbus; an aunt, Virginia Peeples of Blythe Island; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Friday evening (October 28, 2016) starting at 6pm at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church, (located in the Trudie Community) at 17394 Hwy 301 N. Hortense GA 31543.
A funeral service will be held Saturday morning ( October 29, 2016) at 11am at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Sinclair, Bro. Joey Strickland, and Bro Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be AJ Rowell, Layton Rowell, Brandon Crawford, Tatum Crawford, Tyler Shoemaker, and Ryan Pafford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, Ladies Sunday School Class, and the Deacons of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church.
