Larue Herrin

Nahunta-Mr. Leslie "LaRue" Herrin,72, of Nahunta died early Friday morning (Feb. 1, 2013) in the St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida after an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, Georgia his parents were Monsie LaRue and Verna Keene Herrin. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Clyde Miller, 3-Brothers, Madison Wyverne Herrin, Wilton Robert "Foots" Herrin and Joel Verne Herrin. LaRue was a member of The Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta. He graduated from Nahunta High school in 1958 and went into The United States Army in 1960 served 2 years . LaRue then went to work with Bellsouth in 1963 and retired from there in 1992. He also was a member of The Kiwanis Club in Rome, GA., he loved his family very much and Farming was a special job he enjoyed. Fishing was his way relaxing and enjoying life. And was a Foster Parent for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Diane Dowling Herrin, of Nahunta, 5-children and their spouse, Kathryn Renee Herrin Wainright (Jerry), of Nahunta, Keith Leslie Herrin (Jackie), of Nahunta, Tammy Lynn Zigenfus (David), of Decatur, AL., Barbara Fender (Mike), of Nahunta, Chris McCaslin (Sandy), of Maryland and a step-son and his wife, Chris Miller (Tracy), of Nahunta, 13-Grandchildren, Dana Wainright Carter (Rocky), of Hoboken, James Zigenfus (Tiffany), of AL., Bailey Wainright, of Nahunta, Gavin Zigenfus, of AL., Chrissie Oxendine (Tommy), of Maryland, Stephanie Kellum (D.J.), of Maryland, Willie McCaslin (Alyssa), of Maryland, Darren Miller (Sherie), of Nahunta, Jordon Miller and Preston Miller, both of Nahunta, Tanya West, Brandy Jordan (Rupert),Lacey Tucker, 9-Great-Grandchildren, Jaxon Carter, Paige Miller, Paige Zigenfus, Madison Maddox, Sabastian McCaslin, Tyler & Alexis Kellum, Jasmine & Anthony, a very special mother-in-law, Mercedes (Mert) Dowling, of Nahunta, also several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (Feb. 3, 2013)from 6 P.M. till 9 P.M. at The Frye Funeral Home of Nahunta. Funeral services for Mr. Herrin will be Monday afternoon (Feb. 4, 2013) at 3 P.M. from The Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta, with Rev. Hilton Morgan and Rev. Jerry Johns officiatating. Pallbearers will be Perry Thomas, Trey Keene, Gary Edholm, Bert Herrin, Chris Herrin and Jeff Thomas. Honor Guards will be provided by Southeast Georgia Fire Fighter Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery in Nahunta with Honors. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at fryefh.com.
