Nahunta- Lawrence Eldridge “L.E.” Thomas, 91 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday (August 20, 2024) at Bayview Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Born in Canton, GA., his parents were Henry Ingram Thomas and Gladys Fowler Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gene Thomas; his daughter, Janice Thomas Kirkland; and his sister, Mary Thomas.

L.E. was of the Baptist Faith and loved to attend Church and sing at Bayview. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and loved to tell stories.

Survivors include his four daughters and son-in-law, Doris Keenum of Slidel, LA., Gail Ray of Nahunta, Linda Vaughn (Mike) of Savannah, and Darlene McWhorter (Larkin) of Waynesville; his son and daughter-in-law, Casey Brown (Jenny) of Waynesville; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; his sister, Nancy Thomas Phillips of Rome, GA.; two nephews, Breck Phillips and Ricky Phillips both of Rome, GA; and his best friend and Roommate at Bayview, Peter Buglino. Also several other relatives and a host of friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Bayview Nursing Home Staff and Residents.

The family will hold a graveside memorial service on Monday (September 23, 2024) at 11AM at Smyrna Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
