Lawton Strickland

Hortense-Lawton Finley Strickland, 81 of Hortense, passed away Wednesday (October 24, 2012) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Hortense, GA., his parents were Willie E. and Lottie Anderson Strickland. Lawton retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Lawton loved farming, feeding wildlife and children. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Oleta Lewis Strickland, of Hortense; 3 children and their spouses, Karen Strickland (Bill), of Dover Bluff, David Strickland (Linda), of Waynesville, and Larry (Suzanne) Strickland, of Kennebunk, Maine; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, David (Cindy) Strickland Jr., of Lulaton, Hannah Dawn(Jeremy) Boggs, of Waynesville, Heather Deliah (Mathew) Inman, of Loudon, TN., and Ben Hodges, of Atlanta; 7 great grandchildren, Tyler Boggs, Gracie, Joseph, Ruthie, Ellie Inman, Asley, and Ava Strickland; 1 sister, Inez Popwell, of Popwellville, GA. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday morning (October 27, 2012) at 10AM, at Frye Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday morning (October 27, 2012) at 11AM, at Frye Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Satilla Missionary Baptist Church for Wonderful Wednesday.(802 Satilla Church Rd. Hortense GA 31543) Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
