Leslie 'Buddy' Mcginnis Avery

Leslie "Buddy" McGinnis Avery, 70, of Brunswick, GA., passed away Friday (January 16, 2015) at his residence, following an extended illness. Born in Fredericksburg, VA., his parents were Leslie Furney and Virginia Brooks Avery. Mr. Avery loved fishing, bluegrass, and jeopardy. He was a loving husband, and father. Also a member of Colony Baptist Church of N.C. but attended St. Simons Community Church. Survivors include his wife of, 38 years, Kathy Roberson Avery of Brunswick; 3 sons, Richard Avery of New York City, NY., William Avery of N.C., and Daniel Lee Avery of Brunswick; 1 brother and his wife, Gary and Faye Brooks, of New Burn, N.C.; 1 special cousin, Beverly Kerr of N.C. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A memorial service will be held Thursday (January 22, 2015) at 2PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. John Blankenship officiating.
