Linda Gail Houston, age 64, of Brunswick, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Houston, or as she would call him, her knight in shining armor; her children, Christopher Houston (April), Lisa Weaver (Terrell), Michael Houston (Katie), and Samuel Houston; her grandchildren, Britnee Houston, Daron Hutchinson (Jason), Brooke Houston, Christopher Houston Jr., Ethan Weaver, Maximus Houston, and June Houston; her great-grandchildren, Aubree Ryals, Rhidge Griffin, Olivia Thursten, Leah Hutchinson, and Alyza Houston; her siblings, Vickie McCormick, Virgil Lewis, Donald Lewis (Connie), Dennis Lewis, Tina Lewis, Peggy Slaughter (Joey); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Lewis; her mother, Mary-Lou Highsmith Carter; her sisters, Wanda Sanders and Annette Popwell.
Linda was born on July 14,1957 in Waycross, Georgia. On March 5, 1973, she married the love of her life, Gary Houston. Together they had four children, a daughter and three sons. She spent her young adult life as a working mother. Eventually, becoming a home maker. She was a caregiver to all. She was full of inspiration and always had an idea. An excellent cook and baker. She was an artist as well. She loved to paint and draw. Her green thumb was unlike any other. Linda seen a use in everything. It shows in her collection of treasures. She had a warm, welcoming spirit. She never met a stranger. Her comical side was the best. She was hilarious and fun loving. Most of all, Linda was a devout wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and servant to the Lord. Her family was her whole world. Linda was the most kind hearted and selfless person. Her strength was amazing. She had a long bout with many different illnesses that ravaged her body, but you would have never known by her precious demeanor. She fought the good fight, until she won the race. Today, she has a new body that is pain free. Every opportunity she had to tell someone of Jesus' saving grace, she did. She was not ashamed to share the Gospel. She loved with all her heart. Her sweet smile and comforting words will forever be missed. She is now with the Father and the Son praising all the day long.
Linda's going home celebration will be Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Frye Funeral Home located in Nahunta Georgia. Family and friends are welcome for viewing at 12:00 pm. Service begins at 1:00 pm. After service, you are welcome to follow to graveside, located at Bethlehem Cemetery in Hickox, Georgia. Pallbearers are Gary Houston, Christopher Houston, Michael Houston, Samuel Houston, Terrell Weaver, and Jason Hutchinson.
