Nahunta-Lois Elizabeth Cox Hulett "Granny Lois", 91 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday (September 2, 2014) at Bayview Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in North Carolina, her parents were Samuel Cox and Georgia Ann Williams Cox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mitchel F. Hulett; daughter, Patsy Hendrix Moore; son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Hendrix; sister, Cecil C. Poppell; a brother, Toolie Cox, both of McIntosh County; a grandson-in-law, Richard "Rick" Parker. Mrs. Lois moved to Brantley County 67 years ago coming from McIntosh County. She was a member of Nahunta Methodist Church and for the past five years has attended the Bayview Community Church. She worked as Supervisor for Concerted Services, Inc., formerly Slash Pine, for over 40 years. She was a lifetime learner, and taught Sunday School for many years. She took Concerted Services from just an agency to a household word. She dedicated her life to her family and helping the people in need in Brantley County. She was also a former member of the Brantley County Housing Authority, and loved working in her flowers, gardening, and cooking for her family, and her poodles, Don Juan I,II, & III. Survivors include her 2 grandchildren, Beverly Hendrix Parker, of Hickox; Mitchel Hendrix (Penny), of Fargo, GA; 3 great grandchildren, Heather Parker Allen (Joey), of Waycross, Brandon Parker (Ashley), of Fleming Island, FL.; Caitlyn B. Parker, of Hickox; 6 great great grandchildren, Parker Bae Allen, Haden Brek Allen, Callista Jade Parker, Ava Lynn Parker, Brodie Layre Allen, and Wilder Bish Allen; a special sister-in-law, Eloise Hulett; cousins, nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren of the late Neil and Louise Hendrix. She loved all of these as if they were her children. A Funeral Service will be held Friday afternoon (September 5, 2014) at 4:30PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Marden and Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 3:30PM to 4:30PM. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mitchel Hendrix, Brandon Parker, Joey Allen, Parker Bae Allen, Haden Brek Allen, and Matt Brooker. Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and staff of Bayview Nursing Home; special nurses, Valerie Crews, Nell Jackson, Sonya Williams; nephews, Sammy Poppell, Carl Poppell, Herman Poppell, Robert Poppell, David Poppell, Ferrell Griffin, Don Hendrix, and Wain Brooker.
