Hortense-Mrs. Louise Drury Jones, 87 of Hortense, passed away Monday morning (March 31, 2014) at her residence following an extended illness. Born in Hortense, GA, her parents were Samuel Claiborne Mills Drury and Daisy Nevada Jacobs Drury. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Franklin Jones, Sr.; her son, Jon E. Jones; a great grandchild, Brett Strickland; 5 brothers, Morris Drury, Bill Drury, Vernon Drury, Spencer Drury, and Marvin Drury; 7 sisters, Lucille Parker, Eloise Yancy, Beulah Blocker, Thelma Coleman, Vera Church, Daisy Middleton, Christine Brizendine. Mrs. Louise was the oldest member of Waynesville Baptist Church. She played the piano and organ for over 60 years. And was Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Waynesville for many years before retiring, and loved going to the Postmaster Conferences. Louise loved basketball, working in her yard, singing, and playing golf. She also taught at the old Waynesville Elementary School in her younger years. Survivors include 3 children, Anna "Lynn" Jones Chapman, of Hortense, James Franklin "Jimbo" Jones,of Patterson and Sammy Drury, of Hortense; 10 grandchildren, Robin Eubanks (Joe), Sean Chapman (Courtney), Roxanne Pickren, Shane Chapman, Melanie Strickland (Jesse), Valerie Martin (Keith), Jamie Pinkerton (Wayne), Jennifer Murray, Brandon Jones, and Jeremy Jones (Jessica); 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (April 2, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning (April 3, 2014) at 10AM at Waynesville Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Altman and Rev. Joe Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Waynesville. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Jones, Brandon Jones, Colt Brockington, Colby Chapman, Camry Chapman, and Tyler Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be Waynesville Baptist Church. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
