Lucius Claude Greene, Jr. 87 of Waycross, GA died Sunday evening at BayView Nursing Home, Nahunta following an extended illness. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of Lucius Claude Greene, Sr. and Eunice Ray Howell Greene. He is also preceded in death by a son, Sidney Greene and 2 sisters, Dorothy Greene and Virginia Gillespie. He was an Inspector for The U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a graduate of Mercer University,Mr. Lucius also served his Country in The United States Army,a Mason for over 50 years and a member of Scottish Rites of Savannah. also a Member of Lake George Volunteer Fire Department of Midway and he and his wife loved Square dancing. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church of Midway, GA and a faithful worshipper at BayView Nursing Home. Lucius is survived by his wife, Marie Phillips Greene of Nahunta, GA; 2 Sons and daughters-in-law, Woodrow W. and Elaine Smith of Snellville, GA and Luke and Sue Dollar of Marietta, GA; a Daughter and son-in-law, Lucia and Dan Pierce of Palm Bay, FL; 6 Grandchildren and spouses, Woodrow Smith, III and Stacy Smith of Waycross, Kathryn and Mathew Bowden of Midway, Matt Dollar of Atlanta, Bobby and Heather Dollar of Atlanta, Brad Dollar of Atlanta, and Danielle Pierce of Palm Bay, FL; 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorialization will be by cremation. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, (September 2, 2009) at BayView Nursing Home, Nahunta with Rev. Jason Marden officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
