Hoboken-Macie Mae Jacobs Colvin, 93 of Hoboken, GA died Wednesday morning (Dec. 22, 2010) at Hospice of the Golden Isles following a lengthy illness. Born in Hickox, GA, her parents were Edmond Franklin Jacobs and Eliza Jane Thomas Jacobs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hampton Colvin; a 2 yr. old son, Charles Wade Colvin; 4 brothers, Alvin, Dan, Leon and Horace Jacobs; and 4 sisters, Mary Harrison, Nora Highsmith, Gladys Higginbotham and Lena Strickland. Mrs. Macie was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the President of the W.M.U. She was a member of the DAR, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Organization. She taught school in the Brantley County School system for many years and was a Librarian and a Home EC Teacher. She loved making wedding cakes. She is survived by her 2 Daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Jimmy Wilkes of Jekyll Island and Debbie Colvin of Orlando, FL; 4 Grandchildren, Jason and Carrie Wilkes of Statesboro, Susan and Nathan Sparks of St. Simons, Mark & Shanna Wilkes of Clarksville, GA and Kristy and Mike Murphy of Darien; 5 Great Grandchildren, Taylor and Haley Wilkes of Statesboro, Macie and Cohen Wilkes of Clarksville, GA and Jackson Sparks of St. Simons; a Brother and sister-in-law, Ivey and Esther Jacobs of Alma, a Special niece, Lula Mae Robinson; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be 2 hrs. prior to the service Sunday afternoon from 1 until 3 p.m. at Hoboken Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon (Dec. 26, 2010) at 3 p.m. at Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Waycross. Pallbearers will be Jason Wilkes, Mark Wilkes, Jimmy Wilkes, Nathan Sparks, Mike Murphy and Danny Jacobs. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class. In Lieu of flowers, donation can be sent to American Cancer Society, 3011 Hampton Ave. Brunswick, GA 31520. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
