Malcom Griffin

March 22, 1943 — February 9, 2015

Malcom Quillan Griffin, 71 of Hoboken GA, passed away Monday morning (February 9, 2015) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Hoboken, GA., his parents were Dewey Shafter Griffin, Sr. and Macie Altman Griffin. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dewey Shafter "D.S." Griffin and James Mitchell Griffin; 3 sisters, Mary Lee McDonald, Margret Griffin Gunter, and Macie Lavon Grooms. Malcom worked many years for the Brantley County Road Department as a Road Grader. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, and riding the golf cart. He was a man of many words and never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Huba Clare Tanner Griffin; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Louise Meeks (Donnie), of Hoboken, and Romona Sumler, of Waycross; 4 grandchildren, Mae Meeks, Thomas, Becky, and Joseph Sumler; 1 sister, Jackie Griffin Dowling, of Garden City. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (February 11, 2015) at 1PM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Skinner and Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11AM-1PM. Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Sumler, Mike Mercier, David Stallings, David Harris, Charles Harris, Skipper Harris, Thomas Harris, Kaleb Jones, and Timmy Jones. Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Wednesday by 12:30PM. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
