Mamie Lou Nichols Brinkley, 79 of Hortense, passed away Monday (September 13, 2021) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Blackshear, GA., her parents were Robert C. Nichols and Susie Rowell Nichols. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Terril William Brinkley; her son, Jamie Godfrey; her daughter, Linda Durden; her brother, William Nichols; and her sister, Goldie May Nichols.
Mamie was a homemaker who loved making corner cry babies, cooking and taking care of her family. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sara Davis (David), of Odum, Florence Godfrey, of Folkston; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, James Nichols (Janice), of Hortense, Herman Nichols (Beth), and Billy Nichols (Janet), all of Twin Rivers; two sisters, Addie May Wilder, also of Twin Rivers, and Lovie Mobley, of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Graveside service will be held Saturday (September 18, 2021) at 12PM at Highsmith Cemetery with Bro. Donald Pittman officiating.
Due to COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
