Mrs. Marie Altman Kiper, formerly of Hoboken, passed away May 11, 2024 in Littleton, North Carolina
after a brief illness. Mrs. Kiper was born July 22, 1928 to Nolan Altman and Lizzi Griffin Altman in
Blackshear. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles V. “Jack” Kiper and one son, Charles A.
Kiper of Greenville, CA.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Hoffman and husband Larry of Macon, NC and one son,
Bruce Nolan Kiper of Lutz, Fl. She was a very proud grandmother to Randy (wife Donna)
Hoffman, Severna Park, MD; Victoria Hoffman, Raleigh, NC; Shauna Kiper Rockwell (husband,
Jeff), Bakersfield, CA; Kyle Kiper and Daniel Kiper, Brooksville, FL and Travis Kiper, Evansville, IN.
She is also survived by three great grandsons: Tomas Hoffman, Glen Bernie, MD; Lukas Hoffman
(wife Shelby), of Hillsboro, OR and Joseph Gulino, Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Kiper was an avid stitcher, crafter and quilter, often creating her own designs for special
people. At one time she and a sister had a designer pillow manufacturing business and sold
pillows all over the country.
In her mid 60ths, Mrs. Kiper went back to school and earned her GED and trained as a Home
Health Aide, an occupation she continued until her 80’s. In recent years a decline in her overall
health necessitated a move closer to family and she relocated to North Carolina.
Marie loved her flowers and butterflies, both of which she had in abundance at her former
home on Raybon Road in Hoboken.
