Marion 'Mack' Lee Carver

Hortense- Marion Lee "Mack" Carver, 77 of Hortense, died Monday Morning (December 19, 2011) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Hortense, GA, his parents were Alton Clayton and Lizzie Moody Carver. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers; Harvey Carver, and Floyd Moody. Mack was a Lifetime Fire Chief with the Hortense Volunteer Fire Department, he was The Brantley County Emergency Management Director, a Notary Public, Brantley County Transportation Director, he sang in the Calvary Quartet, a deacon at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church, and served on the Cemetery Committee,he retired from BMW in Brunswick where he was a boilermaker. An Ordained Minister, he ministered at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Hopewell Baptist Church, and St. George Baptist Church. He was a member of the Satilla Missionary Baptist Church in Hortense. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Nora Etta Anderson Carver; 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Steve and Deneise Carver of Brunswick, Mike and Marjorie Carver of Hortense, Bobby and Cheryl Carver of Waycross; 7 grandchildren and their spouses; Chad and Danielle Carver of Baxley, James and Kristin Carver of Brunswick, Miranta Carver also of Brunswick, Christina and Chris Thrift of Raybon, Matthew and Casey Carver of Hortense, Candice and Gary Mintier, and Olivia Ross; 9 great grandchildren; Landon, Lydia, Layla, Fisher, Elle, Abbe, and Grace Carver, Gunter and Rylee Thrift. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (December 20, 2011) from 6PM-Until at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon (December 21, 2011) at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church in Hortense at 4:00PM with Mike, Bobby, and Steve Carver officiating. Burial with full Fireman Honors will follow in the Satilla Cemetery, Hortense. Pallbearers will be Butch Gibson, J.B. Strickland, Jacob Carr, Anthony Lee, Emory Brauda, Wayne Crawford, and Nick Rowell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the surrounding area fire departments. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home.
