Hortense – Marion Patricia “Patsy” Hyers, 70, of Hortense passed away Saturday evening (May 14, 2016) at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Baldwin, GA her parents are James and Josephine Moore Gibson of Hortense. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Edward “Ed” Hyers; and a son, Patrick Hyers.
Mrs. Patsy was a homemaker and a member of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, working in her flowers and for her therapy she loved mowing her grass. Patsy had a kind nature and was always helping other in her community. Whenever she came to a Dollar Store she could not pass it without stopping.
Survivors include her son, Robert Hyers of Hortense; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa & Leonard Roberts of Hoboken; 3 grandchildren, Tucker Hyers of Hortense, McKenzie Hyers of Fort Mills, SC, and Leela Roberts of Hoboken; her parents, James and Josephine Gibson of Hortense; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Butch and Wilma Gibson of Hortense and Ricky and Connie Gibson of Montezuma; a sister-in-law and her spouse, Ruth and Bruce Palmer of Jesup; a special nephew, Brian Gibson of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Monday evening (May 16, 2016) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (May 17, 2016) at 11am at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Brown, Rev. Loren Bryant, Rev. Jack Sinclair and Rev. Rob Hutto officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Deloach, Dean Boatwright, Liston Jacobs, Andy Riggins, Len Davis, and G.W. Knox. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy & Becky Davis, Carroll Moody, Sandra Causey, Vickie Deloach, Jeannette Davis, the past and present Lady Bugs softball team, the Lady's Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Hoboken Baptist Church building fund or a church of your choice.
