Mary Griffin Crews

Mary Jeanette Griffin Crews, daughter of the late George Ruel Griffin and Minnie Davis Griffin, was born September 7, 1920 and passed away in Brunswick February 6, 2013 at the age of 92. Mary was one of seven daughters and is survived by one sister, Christine Dryden of Hoboken. Mary was predeceased by her husband Archie B Crews, a daughter Gwendolyn Crews, a great granddaughter Ashley Tiner, son-in-law Lonnie DuBose, and sisters Ruby Jacobs, Amy Jacobs, Iva Cook, Leona Amundsen, and Lavada Cason. Mary is survived by her children Warren (Carolyn) Crews of Waycross; Linda DuBose; Joyce (Woody) Woodcock; and Janice (David) Zak, all of Brunswick. She is also survived by her grandchildren Donna Herrin of Waycross; Cassandra (Joey) Bartlett; Susan (Charlie) Faulk; Emily (Jerry) Rowe; and Jennifer Zak, all of Brunswick. Mary's great grandchildren are Chad (Jessica) Herrin of Hoboken; Heather Henrique; Harrison Faulk; Kendall Faulk, all of Brunswick; Joanie Baughn of Waycross; and great great grandchild Conner Herrin of Waycross. A native and lifelong resident of Brantley County, Mary's greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed visiting with her sisters, hosting holiday gatherings for her family, gardening flowers and vegetables, and attending Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 1:00 on Saturday, February 9 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken. A funeral service, officiated by Mike Yawn, will follow at 2:00. Burial will follow at High Bluff Cemetery in Hoboken. Travis, Robert, Edmond, Ronald, and Terry Jacobs; Claude and George Dryden; and Bill Cason will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and the Grace Group Sunday School class. Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Hoboken. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
