Nahunta – Mary Flowers Tarner, 79, of Nahunta passed away Saturday morning (February 24, 2024) at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Nahunta, GA her parents were McKinley “Bub” Flowers and Edna Johns Flowers. She is also preceded in death by her husband, David Edwin Tarner; a daughter, Edna Marie Tarner; and 2 brothers, Billy Flowers and Dale Flowers.
Mary was a retired bus driver for Brantley County School Board and attended Assembly of God. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, fishing, crocheting, and going on vacation.
Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Elaine Tarner of Nahunta; 3 grandchildren, Melissa M. Altman, Rose A. Thrift and Jay A. Altman; 2 great grandchildren, McKenzie Russell and Cody Russell; a sister, Bonnie F. Conner of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Monday evening (February 26, 2024) starting at 6pm at the residence of Mary Tarner, 702 Taylor Bay Rd Nahunta, GA 31553.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon (February 27, 2024) at 3pm at Bachlott Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Newman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dale Johns, Dustin Allen, Demarus Johns, Desmond Johns, Jeremy Manord, and Michael Flowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Flowers, Willie Hillard, III, Stevens Harris, Gilbert Lee, and Johnny Crews.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
