Mattie Brauda Sackman

Hortense – Mattie Brauda Sackman, 91, of Hortense passed away Tuesday evening (October 8, 2024) at Satilla Bluffs Senior Care in Blackshear after an extended illness.

Born in Hortense, GA her parents were Henry Wallace Brauda and Alma Sloan Brauda. She is also preceded in death by a niece, Bonnie Herrin.

Mattie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Registered Nurse.

Survivors include her 2 children, Katherine Susan Lilly and Travis Quinton Sackman; 3 grandchildren, Kaleb Sanitelli, Lincoln Sackman and Roman Sackman; her brother, Claude Brauda of Hortense; a sister, Barbara Ann Bennett of Jacksonville, FL; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
