Woodbine – Melinda Carter Briggs, 63, of Woodbine passed away Wednesday evening (April 1, 2020) at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in St. Mary’s, GA her parents were Clarence Eugene Carter and Winnie Lee Clark Carter. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Hobart” Eugene Briggs; and a brother, Glenn Carter.
Melinda was a truck driver for Underground Construction and of the Baptist faith. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, shopping, riding ATVs, crafting and crocheting.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward & Erica Briggs of Woodbine, GA; a daughter, Donna Briggs (John Brooks) of Woodbine, GA; 5 grand grandchildren, Colbey Briggs, Peyton Briggs, Devon Blankenship, Simen Blankenship, and Austin Brooks; 3 brothers and their spouses, Timmy Carter of White Oak, Tommy & Gwen Carter of Atkinson, and David & Joey Carter of Brunswick; 2 sisters, Anita Chandler and Angie Carter both of Waverly; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to COVID-19, the family will be having a private graveside service Saturday (April 4, 2020) at Colesburg Cemtery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Chandler, Andrew Chandler, John Brooks, Donny Pearson, David Brooks, and Phillip Marr.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
