Michael Joshua Strickland

Michael Joshua "Josh" Strickland, 18, of the Hickox Community died Tuesday night (April 21, 2009) from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Born in Ware Co, GA, his parents are Sharon Strickland Hendrix and Joseph Verlyn Sweat. He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, Alex C. Sweat and his Great Great Great Grandmother, Myrtle Bennett. He was a All Star Basketball player for Brantley Co. High School, an Avid Sportsman and was in the Brantley Co. ROTC, and was a member of Hickox Baptist Church. He is survived by his Mother and Step father, Sharon Strickland and Kelly Dean Hendrix, of Hickox; his Father, Joseph Verlyn Sweat of Jacksonville, FL; a Brother, Jacob Ezra Strickland of Hickox; Maternal Grandparents, Faye Strickland of Waycross and Dearl Strickland of Waynesville; Paternal Grandmother, Marlene Sweat of Waycross; Maternal Great Grandparents, Myrtice and Shelton Skinner of Pearson; Step Maternal Grandparents, Janice Hendrix of Nahunta and Ronald and Penny Hendrix of Atkinson; Also, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and a host of Friends. Visitation will be Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be Saturday morning (April 25, 2009) at 11:00 a.m. at Frye Funeral Home. (Formerly Chambless-Frye) Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Little Utah in Axson, GA. Pallbearers will be Ron Tindall, Lawton Dixon, Brinson Gray, Jordan Strickland, Dakota Douglas, Caleb Crews, Jeremy Cheshire and Joshua Cheshire.Honorary Pallbearer, Jacob "Ezra" Strickland.
