Hortense-Michael “Mike” Lee Mathis, 60 of Hortense, passed away Monday (July 4, 2016) at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born in Anderson, South Carolina, his parents are Rev. RC Mathis and Frances Hall Mathis, of Hortense.
Mike worked many years as a welder for Clyde Bergman.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Carmen Causey Mathis, of Hortense; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jeremy Hatton, of Hortense; two granddaughters, Tori and Ellie Moody; father and mother, Rev. RC and Frances Hall Mathis, of Hortense, a brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Anita Mathis; of Hortense; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and James Nichols, of Hortense. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (July 7, 2016) 10:30 AM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Pat McCord officiating.
Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Causey, Eric Causey, Dustin Causey, Joel Mathis, Joseph Mathis, and Jamie Nichols.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
