Michael Leon Owens, 50 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday night (April 12, 2016) at his residence following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Claxton, GA., his parents were Randall Brinson Owens and Sandra Hogue Owens.
Michael was a retired Police Officer for Glynn County. He was of the Baptist Faith, and he loved fishing, hunting, and was a loving father.
Survivors include his special friend, Vinnie Jacobs Crews, of Hortense; his son, Brinson Michael Owens of Waynesville; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittney Michelle Owens Clemmons (Tyler) of Hortense; the mother of his children, Donna Horton Owens, of Waynesville; his brother, Joel Owens, of Reidsville; nephews, A.J. Horton, Jonathan Beard, and a special nephew, Franklin “Frankie” Horton, he thought of as a son; nieces, Hannah Owens, and a special neice, Summer Mizelle, who he thought of as a daughter; and his granddog, Lilly. Also several other relatives, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Friday evening (April 15, 2016) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday afternoon (April 16, 2016) at 2PM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Randy Lamb officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Glynn County Police Department and Honor Guard, and Mike Westberry.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
