Michael Philip Dunne

May 13, 1949 — September 21, 2016

Michael Philip Dunne, son of James and Dorothy Dunne, was born on Friday, May 13, 1949 in Hudson, Michigan. He spent his childhood in Hudson, attended high school in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University in 1972. He was then commissioned into the United States Army where he served honorably as an active duty officer for 11 years followed by 9 years in the reserves and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Michael also had a successful and fulfilling 25-year career with Gulfstream Aerospace in both Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia.

Michael was an avid reader and life-long learner who enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. He spent his extra time helping with school projects and coaching sports teams for his children. Michael was a long-standing member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and enjoyed being involved with the community.

He was a man of few requests and always put everyone before himself. He had a good heart and was loved by many. We are requesting in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Honor Flight.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Poppell Dunne; his son, Seain Dunne; and his daughters, Meagan Lee, Angela Starnes, and Sophie O'Carroll.

A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson, Michigan at a later date. Interment with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
