Hoboken-Mrs. Myrtle Strickland Griffin,65, of Hoboken died early Tuesday morning at The Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after an extended illness. Born in Jesup, Georgia she was the daughter of Everett and Henrietta Young Strickland. She is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Everett J. and Vernon Strickland, 2 nephews, Gene and Dale Strickland, and 2 great nieces, Clarissa Strickland, and Lindsey Ferguson. A member of The Hoboken Baptist Church, Mrs. Griffin loved quilting for cancer patients and cooking and caring for family. She survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Julian Wilbur Griffin, of Hoboken; a daughter, Eve Hand, of Hoboken ; a son and daughter-in-law, Wilbur and Lisa Griffin, of St. Marys; 4 grandchildren, Joshua and Jonathan Griffin of Hoboken; Danny Petty, of Brunswick; John Julian Griffin, of Montana; a brother and sister-in-law, Norris & Lorena Strickland, of Nahunta; 2 sisters and their spouses, a twin, Myrle Lee & Aley, of Nahunta; Marion & Earl Clements, of Brunswick. 2 sister-in-laws, Janie & Richard Gibson, of Waycross; Pauline Palmer, also of Waycross. Also several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (January 25, 2012) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon (January 26, 2012) at 2PM, at High Bluff Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rowell, and Rev. Jerry Johns officiating.
