Hortense- Nadine Lillian "Spradley" Rooks, 75 of Hortense, died Sunday morning ( May 13, 2012) at her residence following an extended illness. Born in Jesup, GA, her parents were Morris Albert Spradley and Lillie Mae Flowers Drury. She is also preceded in death by her husband George Rooks; 2 brothers, Lamar Drury and Sonny Drury; and a sister, Geneva Taylor. Nadine was a homemaker who loved her grandchildren, and loved to fish. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Terri Warner, of Burnt Fort; 5 daughters and their spouses, Diane and Charles Workman, of Hortense, Janice and Mike Brady, of Waycross, Aneita Warner, of South Carolina, Vann and Merle Brant, of Hortense, and Martha Strickland, of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, Nina Dotson, Scott Workman, Tony Workman, Charles Workman III, Stefanie Warner, Kristi Warner, Michael Brady, Stephen Brady, Elizabeth Skipper, Samuel Brant, Chey Anne Brant, Effie Strickland, Matt Strickland, and Joseph Sadler; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jimmy Drury, of Hortense, Cecil Drury, of Odum, and Benny Drury, of Brunswick; and 2 sisters, Marie Drury, of Harriets Bluff, and Patsy Moody of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday afternoon (May 15, 2012) at 2PM, at the Hopewell Baptist Church (4890 Old Post Rd. Hortense, GA 31543) with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
