Nahunta- Nancy “Sweet Mama” Jewel Proctor McDonald, 80 of Nahunta, passed away Sunday (July 24, 2016) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Waycross, GA., her parents were John Royce Proctor and Mary Lucille Johns Proctor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McDonald; her son, Jerles B. Lilly; and her daughter, Nancy Gail Lilly.
Mrs. McDonald worked many years as a Security Guard for International Auto Port (IAP). She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and enjoyed quilting and singing. She loved to sing with the Monday Night Singers.
Survivors include her grandson and his wife, Colin Lilly (Sonyia), of Rockwall, TX.; her three other grandchildren, Jerry, John, and Shane Lilly; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Royce Hubert Proctor (Iona), of Brunswick, James Kicie Proctor (Paula), of Portland, OR; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Iris P. Sloan (Robert), of Hortense, and Kate P. Manor (Bicknell), of Hickox. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (July 26, 2016) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning (July 27, 2016) at 10AM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Johns and Bicknell Manor officiating.
Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee O’Berry, Jamie O’Berry, Royce Proctor, Ben Proctor, John Proctor, and Eddie Alligood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joy Sunday School Class,of Southside Baptist, Gems for Jesus Quilting Group, and Virginia Lynn.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
