Mrs. Onie Lynn Sloan Flowers, 87, of Hortense died late Wednesday night (September 15, 2010) at her residence after an extended illness. Born in Pierce County her parents were William Arthur and Mary Adams Sloan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ross Flowers and 7 children, James Donald Flowers, Edna Josphine Flowers, Rita Dorene Flowers, Gerald Flowers, Linda F. Morgan, Harvey Lee Flowers and Sheldon Lawrence Flowers. Mrs. Onie was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting and working with the senior citizens. Also she was a charter member of Hortense Church of God of Prophecy since 1945, a member of Durcas Club and a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include 9 children and their spouses, Ronald & Kathrine Flowers of Brunswick, Elbert & LaWanda Flowers of Hortense, Lloyd & Sheryn Flowers of Hortense, Lillian Roberson of Hortense, Howard Flowers of Brunswick, Ross & Janet Flowers of Hortense, Frances & Robert Manners of Pelion, SC, Patricia Lee & Gene Oglesby of Hortense and Wendell Flowers of Hortense; 27 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 7 brothers, Bert, Sylester, Allen, Herman, Eugene, Hershel and Robert Sloan; 2 sisters, Florence Blaylock and Lubie Worlverton; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (September 17, 2010) starting at 6 P.M. at Hortense Church of God of Prophecy. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (September 18, 2010) at 11 A.M at Hortense Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Ricky Knox, Rev. Charles Brown, Rev. Marty Lawson, Rev. R. C. Mathis and Rev. Sammy Spradley officiating. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be James Flowers, B.J. Flowers, Travis Flowers, Rocky Flowers, Jason Flowers, Matt Flowers, Jerrin Flowers and Brad Oglesby. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy Adult Sunday School Class, Charlton Visiting Nurses, Dr. Emily Feely, Golden Isles Hospice, Shelby Jean Cartwright and Davita Dialysis' Nurses.
