Hortense-Pastor James “Jimmy” Cummings Davis, III, 58 of Hortense passed away Friday night (Nov. 26,2020 at The Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick after a short illness.
Born in Brunswick, Georgia his parents were the late James Cummings Davis, II and Mary Earline Morgan Dowling of Nahunta.
Pastor Jimmy ministered at The One Life at a Time Ministries in Hortense. He loved preaching The Word of God and sharing his testimony with others. An avid outdoors man he enjoyed wildlife, fishing, trapping, and hunting. But always found time to enjoy life with his loving family. He served his Country in The U.S. Army.
Preceded by his father, his paternal grandparents, John “Jack” Davis and Miriam Cate Davis, also his maternal grandparents Earl Morgan and Elsie Morgan.
Survived by his loving wife , Debbie Sue Sloan Davis, of Hortense, his mother, Mary Earline Dowling, of Nahunta, Daughter and son-in-law, Mindy Sue and Matthew Ingram, of Hortense, 2-brothers and a sister-in-law, Scot Davis, David and Jennifer Dowling, 3-sisters and a brother-in-law, Sonia Willis, Charlene Barker , Regina and Richard Miller, a grandchild, Kadie Beth Ingram, also, several nieces, nephews a great host of friends and his loving family of One Life at a Time Life Ministries.
Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
Graveside funeral services for Pastor Jimmy Davis will be held Wednesday morning (Dec.2,2020) at 11 AM at The Satilla Cemetery in Hortense, with Bishop Larry Johns, Pastor Matthew Ingram and Bro. Eddie Jennings officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at Satilla Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Jennings, Scot Davis, Mike Alewine, Brian Lanier and Matthew Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Andy Slaughter, Roger Rigby, Matt Denison and Dickie Waters.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
