Hoboken-Paula "Kay" Mercier, 57 of Hoboken, passed away Tuesday (May 28, 2013) at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville following an extended illness. Born in Waycross, GA her parents were James "Jimmy" and Cordie "Pauline" Baker Mercier. Kay was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church. She worked many years as a seamstress for Okefenokee Cap Factory. Kay loved cooking, visiting with friends, and going to church. Survivors include her daughter and her fiancé, Sherri Mercier (Tommy McCormic), of Boyce, LA; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael "Mike" Mercier (Barbara), of Hoboken; a niece, Tonya Crosby (Bengi), of Hoboken; a nephew, Bubba Mercier (Christy), of Hoboken; an aunt, Nadine Peacock, of Hoboken. Also 4 great nephews and many friends. A Visitation will be held Thursday evening (May 30, 2013) from 6PM-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Friday (May 31, 2013) at 11AM at Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Verlon Griner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hoboken City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Thomas, Zack Thomas, David Jacobs, Skipper Harris, G.C. Waters, and Jesse Trull. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
