Peggie Sue Ashburn Thompson, 67, of Folkston passed away late Saturday night at Hospice Satilla House in Waycross after an extended illness. Born in Anderson, Indiana her parents were Jack and Pauline Lillian Gastinger Ashburn. She is also preceded in death by a Granddaughter, Diane Mumford. Peggie was a homemaker and a member of Nahunta Church of God. She enjoyed reading, number painting, playing Scrabble and loved singing bluegrass gospel music. Survivors include her husband of 45 yrs., John "Johnny" Thompson of Folkston; 1 son and daughter-in-law; Harry James "Jimmy" and Melissa Mumford of Bryceville, FL. 3 Daughters and sons-in-law; Donna and Greg Jones of Jesup; Tracy and Charles Carroll of Hilliard, FL. Wanda and Sam Merkle of Warner Robbins 12 Grandchildren and their spouse; Eric and Nikki Nettles, of Patterson, GA., April and Billy Ray Harris, of Nahunta, GA., Crystal Green, of Hilliard, FL. Corey and Cheyenne Carroll, of McClenny, FL., Chuck Carroll, of Hilliard, FL., Jessica and Neil Maddox, of S.C., Nathan and Kaitlan Mumford, of Callahan, FL., Daphne Mumford, Levi Mumford, Dallas Mumford, all of Bryceville, FL., John and Nicole Crawford, of Rockford, ILL. And Brandi Sonama, of Warner Robins, GA., 5 Brothers and sisters-in-law; Roy and Charlene Ashburn of White Pine, Tennessee; Jack and Millie Ashburn of Athens, Tennessee; Jim Ashburn, John Ashburn, and Jeff Ashburn; 2 Sisters; Judy and Caney Nipper ; Barbara Ashburn all of Paint Rock, Tennessee. Also several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (Dec. 22, 2014) starting at 6 P.M. from Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA.. Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be held Tuesday morning (Dec. 23, 2014) at 11 A.M. from The Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Florey and John Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in The Riverside Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Lloyd, David Smith, Marty Nelson, Billy Ray Harris,Collin Causey and Paul Morgan. All pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Tuesday by 10:30 AM. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
