Peggy Landon Byrd

Hortense – Peggy Landon Byrd, 57, of Hortense, passed away Sunday (November 12, 2023) at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, GA.

Her father was the late James Landon and her mother is Mildred V. Griner English. She is also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lou Griner; step-father, Joe English. She attended the Church of God of Hortense. Peggy enjoyed fishing, listening to music, riding on dirt roads, talking on the phone, and dancing. She loved watching the birds on her front porch, watching soap operas , and most of all spending time with her family and giving all the babies ice cream.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Christopher “Chris” Byrd (Torie), Kelly Byrd (Hannah) both of Hortense, 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kristin Byrd (Jeffrey) of Hortense; 9 grandchildren, Skyler Byrd, Braylen Byrd, Chandler Byrd, Eli Byrd, Wrenley Byrd, Alexis Byrd, Dayton Byrd, Tanner Byrd, Madyson Byrd (Nettles); her mother, Mildred V. Griner English of Hortense; 1 brother, Ward Anderson; 1 sister, Tammy Robinson both of Hortense; special friend, Dennis Scott of Hortense; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (November 14, 2023) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday (November 15, 2023) at 12PM at Frye Funeral Home with Pastor David Farrior and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.

Burial will follow in Hortense cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Roberson, Chris Byrd, Kelly Byrd, Logan Sapp, Skyler Byrd, and Braylen Byrd.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA.
