Rachel 'Geneva' Newmans

Hoboken-Rachel "Geneva" Jacobs Newmans, 88 of Hoboken passed away late Tuesday night (April 1, 2014) at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta, following an extended illness. Born in Brantley County, GA, her parents were Willie Jacobs and Ethel Sapp Jacobs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, E.L. "Red" Newmans; 1 daughter, Joyce Newmans; 1 son, Stanley Newmans; 1 grandson, Stanley Newmans, Jr.; 2 sisters, Onamae Batten, and Dicie Hamilton; 3 brothers, Sylvester "Vest" Jacobs, Winton Jacobs, and Authur "Opp" Jacobs. Mrs. Newmans loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She worked many years as a Seamstress for Transco Caps. Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Newman (Anna), of Port St. Lucie, FL, Richard Newman (Donna), of Jenson Beach, FL, and Freddie Newman (Geraldine), of Waynesville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Crews (Lester), of Hoboken, and Gail Crews (Jerry), of Racepond; 1 special granddaughter, Amanda Harris, of Raybon, GA; 24 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph Jacobs (Dianna), of Hoboken, and a sister, Gladys Crews, of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Thursday evening (April 3, 2014) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Friday afternoon (April 4, 2014) at 2PM, at Hoboken Church of God, with Rev. Freddie Newman and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in the Hoboken City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shannon Newman, David Newman, Trenton Newman, Christopher King, KC Harris, John Rowland and Brian O'Neal. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Walden, Jack O'Neal, and Mark Newman. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
