Nahunta- Rev. Jimmy Ray Mathis, SR., 73, of Nahunta passed away Friday evening (May 27,2022) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Tampa, FL. His parents were Raleigh and Hattie Mae Green Mathis. He is also preceded by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Jimmy was the Founder and Pastor at The Potters Field Church of Nahunta. He loved God and the ministry and winning souls. He loved his wife “his sunshine” more than words could express. His hearts desire was to spend eternity in Heaven with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rita Mathis of Nahunta; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Mathis, Jr. (Charlene) of Nahunta; Clifton Mathis (Leah) 0f Trenton, GA.; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Kerce (Timmy) ,of Taylor City, FL., and Phebe Chancey (Charles) of Mt. Holly, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Chelsea , Sierra , Kamrie, Emalee (Micah) Creamer, Dalton, Hannah, Natalee, Kaison, Lilee, Haley, and Nate; 1-Great Grandson, Grayson, a brother, Gene Mathis of Moore Haven, FL.; and 1 sister and brother-in-law, Judy Farnam (Billy) of Moore Haven, FL. Also, several other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning (May 31, 2022)10 AM-11 AM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (May 31,2022) at 11 AM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dalton Chancey, Bro. Nathan Burke, Rev. Kenneth Lott, and Bro. Andrew Gillis officiating.
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joel Barnes, David Ferrell, Nathan Burke, Andrew Gillis, Timmy Kerce, and Sean Chancey.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
