Rev. Roy Calvin Jacobs

September 30, 1943 — April 14, 2012

Hoboken-Rev. Roy Calvin Jacobs, 68, of Hoboken, died early Saturday morning (April 14, 2012) at his residence following an extended illness. Born on his family's farm in Hoboken, GA. His parents were the late Calvin Eugene Jacobs and Emily Robbins Jacobs, of Hoboken. He is preceded by his father, his beloved twin brother, Ray E. Jacobs and a grandson, Kyle Crews. Rev. Jacobs served in The U.S. Army for several years then joined The National Guard. He was the Pastor of Philippians Worship Center in Hoboken, and had started the church in 1987; he has been a Minister for 32 years and had served as a Pastor in the surrounding area for several other churches. Bro. Jacobs was also an avid Coon hunter. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Scarlet Elaine Boyd Jacobs, of Hoboken, his mother, Emily Robbins Jacob, of Hoboken, 4-sons and daughters-in-law, J.W. "Jay" and Trish Crews, of Euless, Texas, Anthony Roy "Tony" and Lisa Barber, of Hortense, GA., Jack and Robbin Browning, of Clarence, Louisiana and Jeffrey G. and Heather Barber, of Guyton, GA., 3-daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Chris Taylor, of Hoboken, GA., Laura and Chris Doremus, of Bourne, Tx. and Lisa Oglesby, of Waycross, GA., 3-brothers and a sister-in-law, Gene Jacobs, of Jacksonville, FL, Bennie Jacobs, Hoboken and Dr. H. Alec and Lisa Jacobs, also of Hoboken, 2-sisters, Carolyn J. Mann, of North Augusta, S.C. and Charlene J. Griffin, of Hoboken, GA., 15-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren, also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rev. Jacobs will be carried to the Philippians Worship Center in Hoboken for visitation starting Saturday (Apr. 14, 2012) at 6 P.M. and will remain there until 2 P.M. Sunday (Apr. 15, 2012) A Memorial service for Rev. Roy Jacobs will be held Friday (Apr. 20, 2012) at 7 P.M. at the Philippians Worship Center with Rev. Glynn Carter officiating. Memorialzation will be by cremation. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
