Richard Lester Farrell, Sr.

Richard Lester Farrell, Sr., 75 of Waynesville, passed away early Wednesday morning (June 25, 2014) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Clinton, Wisconsin, his parents were Lester George Farrell and Lillian Lois Thompson Farrell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Farrell; and a sister, Beverly Peterson. Richard was a Farmer and also served in the United States Navy. He was of the Lutheran Faith and loved tractors, auctions, animals, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Janet Thompson Farrell; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Farrell, Jr. (Sonya); a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Smith (Steve), all of Waynesville;5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Farrell (Mallory), Jordan Farrell, Casey Richardson, Joshua Smith, all of Waynesville, and Cassidy Smith, of St. Augustine; 3 Brothers and a sister-in-law, Dennis Farrell (Pat), of San Diego, California, Mike Farrell, of Wisconsin, Jerry Farrell, of Middleburg, FL; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna Torkilson (Les), Mary Ellen Kroeze (Dean), and Cheryl Liptow (Fred), all of Wisconsin. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Military Service will be held Monday morning (June 30, 2014) at 10AM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL. 32218.with Rev. Sammy Spradley officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Heartland Hospice at 664 Scranton Rd. Brunswick, GA. 31520 or Pancreatic Cancer Research at www.pancan.com. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
