Richard Currie, age 56, Waynesville, GA, died suddenly at his home on Friday, April 17, 2009. Born on June 17, 1952, in Nashua, NH, son to the late Stephen and Carolyn (Roundy) Currie, raised in Bethlehem, NH, he graduated high school in Littleton, NH. Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He attended Lake City Community College, FL earning a degree in mechanics and worked with his brother James on the golf courses at Jekyll Island, GA. Richard was Head Mechanic at the famed Augusta National Golf Course, Augusta, GA in the 1980's. He became Assistant Superintendent at Hidden Hills Golf Course, Jacksonville, FL, working alongside his beloved brother, Jim. He took his Irrigation Specialist skills to the Ponte Vedra Country Club, Ponte Vedra, FL, and to the Jacksonville Zoo, Jacksonville, FL, where he enjoyed his unique love of animals. Dick was an avid fisherman, gardener, movie buff, great storyteller, Harley rider, and followed Nascar and The Young and The Restless faithfully. A beloved dad, grand-pops and brother, Richard will be missed by his daughter, Sachiko Clark and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Hayley Lynn and Hayden James, Jacksonville, FL; son, Kyle Currie, Jacksonville, FL; sister, Nancy Philpot and husband, Stephen, Clearwater, FL; sister, Susan Lehan, Skowhegan, ME; brother, James Currie, Jekyll Island, GA; sister, Patricia Currie and friend, Francis Stedman, Brunswick, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dick was predeceased by his loving sister-in-law, Lynn Currie, and brother-in-law, Thomas Lehan. The family will share a Celebration of Richard's life at a later date.
