Rita Ammons Howard

Nahunta-Rita Rena Ammons Howard,62, passed away Friday evening (June 10, 2022) at her residence following a brief illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA. her parents were Raymond Ammons and Golda Riggins Ammons. She is also preceded by her husband, Wilson Howard, and a sister, Cheryl Wainright.

Rita was a Homemaker and a member of Little Memorial Church. She loved dancing, singing, and working in her flowers. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies and family.

Survivors include her 4 children and their spouses; Shelly Smith (Eric) of Lulaton, Scott Ammons of Waynesville, Jessica O’Berry (Robbie) of Hickox, and Preston Chanclor (Nicky) of Waynesville, 12 Grandchildren and their spouses; Anthony Ammons (Maegan), Aaliyah Moore (Jacob), Aalyssa Rountree, Emmalee Howell (Austin), Natalee Lee (Caleb), Donovan Beckham (Dannie), Mathie O’Berry, Khloe Chanclor, Katee Chanclor, Tyler Chanclor, Taylor Price, and Gabriel Kniceley. 4 Great Grandchildren; Ailynn Peffer, Phoenix Price, Kennedy Moore, and Keagan Kniceley, and one on the way; Sedona Howell. 2 brothers and a sister-in-law; Ricky Ammons (Mary) and Jamie Ammons all of Waynesville, 6 sisters and their spouses; Peggy Gibson (John) of Waynesville, Pat Hickox of Nahunta, Carolyn Drawdy (Gene) of Hortense, Robin Wheeler (Don) of Waynesville, Susan Wilson (Harley) of Racepond, and Monica Allen (William) of Hilliard, FL. Also, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. And a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Monday evening (June 13, 2022) starting at 6 PM at Frye Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (June 14, 2022) at 11 AM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Emory Wilson and Rev. Charles Florey officiating.

Burial will follow in Ammons-Warner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Beckham, Mathie O’Berry, Gene Wilson, Leighton Ammons, Robbie O’Berry, Brad Ammons, Eric Smith, and Buckwheat Snyder, Jr.
