Robert Daniel Popwell

On the afternoon of October 5th, 2021, Robert Daniel Popwell passed away peacefully in the comforting presence of his family in Nahunta, Georgia. He has joined the Lord Jesus and his eternal family in Heaven. The cause of his death was cancer-related. Danny was born to Elmer and Myrtle Popwell on September 5th, 1950. He grew up on Pineridge Road in Hilliard, Florida, with two brothers, Johnny Popwell (Kay) and Steve Popwell (Diane), who have both preceded him in death, along with their loving parents. His surviving sisters are Debby Reed (Eddie) and Sandy McCullough (Lee) of Hilliard. He is also survived by his Aunt Carolyn Hinson, to whom he was especially close. In his youth, he attended school in Hilliard and Callahan. In 1970, he married his childhood sweetheart, Kathleen Bandy (Billy Harter). During their marriage, they had three children— Bobby Popwell, Susie Lloyd (Chris), and Connie Sirmons. Later in life, he had two more children, Justin Pierce and Sophia Popwell. He is survived by all of them. He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also has many nieces and nephews, including Mitch Bandy, II. and Jared Reed. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and being at the river. As he grew older, he often and fondly told his “back-in-the day” stories to his loved ones. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at Buford Grove Cemetery in Hilliard.
