Waynesville- Robert Elbert Knight, 81 of Waynesville, passed away Monday (January 7, 2019) at Harborview Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Born in Ambrose, GA., his parents were C.W. Knight and Noralee Thompson Knight. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Birtie Mae Deen Knight; two grandsons, James Dwight Holton and Joseph Nathaniel Flowers; and a brother.
Mr. Knight worked 27 years as a mechanic for Lincoln Mercury Mazda in Brunswick. He was a member of Trinity Church of Nazarene, he enjoyed fishing, car shows, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and James Holton, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Tracy Holton Hendrix (Ashley), of Browntown, and Tiffany Holton, of Waynesville; 6 great grandchildren, Scott Holton, Haley Hendrix, Gavin Flowers, William Hendrix, Valerie Flowers, and Boo Holton, all of Waynesville; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Knight, of Douglas, Ralph Knight, of Jacksonville, Bobby Knight (Martha), of Douglas, and Doyle Knight (Wanda),also of Douglas; three sisters, Sarah Jewell, Peggy Knight Braham, and Kathy Wooten, all of Douglas. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (January 9, 2019) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday (January 10, 2019) at 10AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hinton Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Rooks, Jorden Melton, Gavin Flowers, Jerry Popwell, Thomas Buckley, and Jackie Holton.
Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home Thursday by 9:30AM.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
