Robert H. Wilson, Sr.

Mr. Robert "Bobby" H. Wilson, Sr., 70, of Nahunta died Wednesday afternoon (November 18, 2009) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, Georgia his parents were Norman Issac Wilson, Sr. and Josie Mae Lewis Wilson. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Shuman and Dorothy Wilson; and a brother, Jerry Wilson. Mr. Bobby was a very active businessman in and around the Brantley County area, and was attributed to starting several businesses in the area. He built the Brantley Auto Parts Store, also owned and operated the Gulf station in Nahunta, he later opened the Wilson Trucking Company and managed it from 1970-1990, and served the City of Nahunta as a Councilman in the 60's, and also as Mayor in 2004-2007, He served Brantley County as Justice of the Peace. Mr. Bobby loved fishing and after retirement he settled back and enjoyed farming. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Jacobs Wilson of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & Bruce Dean of Raybon; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. & Linda Wilson, Jr. of Hortense; 3 grandchildren, Jeannie & Rodney Pittman of Atkinson, Ellis Dean of Raybon and Madison Wilson of Hortense; 2 great grandchildren, Julianna and Ramsey Pittman both of Atkinson; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Benny Thomas of Nahunta, Marie & Gerald Spratlin of Alabama and Diane & Barry Ivey of South Carolina; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Junior & Freda Wilson of Nahunta and James Wilson of Brunswick; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (November 20, 2009) from 6pm-9pm at Frye Funeral Home of Nahunta. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon (November 21, 2009) starting at 2pm at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Wilson and Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Raybon. Pallbearers will be Hubert Wilson, Ryan Thomas, Rodney Pittman, John Roberson, Roy Highsmith and Dan Smith.
