Hortense – Robert J. Rooks, 84, of Hortense passed away early Tuesday morning (October 4, 2016) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Waynesville, GA his parents were William Robert and Alma Lyles Rooks. He is also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Annie Hall, Arizona Clemmons, and Mary Lee Howe; 2 brothers, James Rooks and David Rooks; and 2 infant grandchildren.
Robert was a Technician for Gray’s Climate Makers and loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding his four wheeler.
Survivors include his 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Carl & Tammy Rooks of St. Mary’s, Kenny & Barbara Rooks and Wayne & Cathy Rooks, all of Waynesville; his daughter and son-in-law, Joann & John Simpson, of Nahunta; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his companion, Virginia Quinn, of Waynesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Chestine & Joyce Rooks, of Waynesville; 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Loretta Brockington, Willie Mae Johnson, and Elizabeth & Harel Butler, all of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (October 5, 2016) starting at 6pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A graveside service will be held Thursday morning (October 6, 2016) at 11am at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
