Robert Lee Usher, Sr.

Waynesville-Robert Lee Usher, Sr.,79, of Waynesville died early Saturday morning (February 4, 2012) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Toombs Co. he was the son of the late Sydney and Eva Screws Usher. He is also preceded by his loving wife Annie Ruth Usher, 2 sons, Robert Usher, Jr., and Bo Usher, 2 daughters Lena Ward, and Penny Holmes, 1 brother, Sydney Usher and 3-sisters, Sarah Kitchens, Gladys Manning and Eria Blair. He was a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church and was a self employed plumber. Mr. Usher loved shrimping, and spending time with his family. An a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include 3 daughters and their spouses, Claudia & Richard Weese, Myrle & Jack Hill, Peggy & Bobby Ward, all of Hortense; a son, Willie Usher, of Waynesville. a brother and sister-in-law, Major "ML" and Barbara Jordan, of Jacksonville; a brother-in-law, Ernest Gene Smith, of Wilmington, NC; a sister and brother-in-law, Valier & Bubba Pye, of Yulee,Fl., 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild . Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (February 7, 2012) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning (February 8, 2012) at 11AM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, with Rev. Keith Brown officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick. Pallbearers will be Bob Ward, Charlie Ward, James Slaughter, Robert Holmes, Matthew Slaughter, Richard Proctor, Bill Usher,Jay Hodge and Bobby Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brantley County Concerted Services, Dr. Bowden & Beth, Dr. Certain, Hospice of the Golden Isles, Altamaha Home Health Care, and Health Department Home Care. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
