Rodney Windle Higginbotham

Callahan -Rodney Windle Higginbotham, 61, of Callahan, FL passed away Thursday afternoon (September 8, 2016) at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness.

Born in Fernandina Beach, FL his parents are Christine Wingard Higginbotham of Hilliard, FL and the late Delma Higginbotham. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Higginbotham and Mr. and Mrs. Wingard.

Rodney was a machinist operator for Rock Ten in Fernandina Beach, FL and was a member of True Faith Christian Fellowship of Callahan. He also loved farming, hunting, walking, tractors, and riding with Amber around the pond.

Survivors include his longtime companion and caretaker, Amber Sloan Young of Callahan, FL; his mother Christine Higginbotham of Hilliard, FL; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice & Neal Lyons of Callahan, FL and Charlotte & Richard Kardatzke of Jacksonville, FL; a niece, Sophia Kardatzke of Jacksonville, FL; 2 uncles and aunts, Jack & Betty Wingard and Junior & Kay Wingard of FL; and also several other relatives.

A visitation will be held Saturday evening (September 10, 2016) starting at 6PM – 8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (September 11, 2016) at 2PM at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Ryals officiating.

Burial will follow in Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Lee, Milton Rowell, Adam Ryals, Roger Sloan, Kelly Rowell, James Morgan, Ronald Palmer and Jeff Wingard.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
