Ronald ' Ron' Norwood Sirmons

Hortense – Ronald “Ron” Norwood Sirmons, 73, of Hortense passed away Sunday morning (December 20, 2020) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Hinesville, GA his parents were Carl Sirmons and Varena Itura Shaw Sirmons. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Renee Ramirez; a sister, Carlene Rooks Hall; and a very dear friend, Jackie “Jimbo” Ray Hendrix.

Ron was a long time driver for Hendrix Hauling of Jesup and served in the United States Army. He was a paramedic and firefighter for Glynn County, a volunteer firefighter for Waynesville Fire Department and has served in fire and recuse for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cora Ann Groves Sirmons of Hortense; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Hope & Kurt Ahnberg of Brunswick, Tammy Medders of Douglas, Veronica & Jamie Denison of Odum and Rebecca Sirmons of Jacksonville; a step son and his spouse, Chuck & Shirley Beard of Waynesville; an adopted step son, Wenda Collins of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, Kylie Sirmons, Stormie Davis, Robbie Medders, Michael Medders, Travis Sirmons, Diego Ramirez, Jacob Beard, Jordan Beard, Kristen Ahnberg Read, and Kurt Ahnberg; an adopted grandson, Takota Jellerson; numerous great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (December 22, 2020) at 2PM at Waynesville Fire Station 1 with Bro.. Michael Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Lee, Jack Cathcart, Roger Barwick, Takota Jellerson, Andrew Hagerstron and Andrew Altman.
