Hortense- Mr. Roy "Tuffy" James Jacobs, 75, of Hortense died Thursday afternoon (February 3, 2011) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA after an extended illness. Born in Hortense his parents were Ander and Daisy Ammons Jacobs. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, R.L. & J.H. Jacobs and a sister, Deloris Roberson. James was a carpenter for Davison Construction and was of the Holliness faith. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, building things and spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Shelby Davison Jacobs of Hortense; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Roy & Brenda Jacobs and Rodney & Cathy Jacobs all of Hortense; a brother and sister-in-law, Junior & Athelene Jacobs of Hortense; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Odessa & Milton Lane of Brunswick, Mary Phillips of St. Petersburg, FL and Geraldine & Bob Booth of Glynn St. Marys, Fl; all of Papas Piepsie Noopers, 4 grandchildren, Alisa & Robbie Deen of Hortense, Brandi & Matt Dixon of Waynesville, James Jacobs of Hortense and Josh Barber of Jacksonville, NC; 7 great grandbabies, Houston, Ramsey, Jolie and Bentley Deen all of Hortense and Caleb, Evan & Reece Dixon of Waynesville; special to Papa, Jerry Moody, Randy Davison, Jerry Lane, Ronnie Strickland and many more; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (February 5, 2011) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A celebration of going home to be with Jesus will be held Sunday afternoon (February 6, 2011) at 2PM at the Salt House Worship Center with Rev. Deryl Davison and Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. Mr. James will lay in state one hour prior to the service Sunday. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery, Hortense. Pallbearers will be Terry Davison, Michael Davison, Chad Chesser, Roger Sloan, Charles Harrell and Kevin Davison. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Dialysis Clinic in Jesup, GA, Dr. Tucker, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Bowen. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
