Nahunta- Mrs. Rubie Mae Kennedy Forrister,86, of Nahunta died early Monday morning (January 6, 2014) at Genesis Health Care in Folkston after an extended illness. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas her parents were James Ernest and Mary Ellie Hensley Kennedy. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William James Forrister; a sister, Betty Motes; and a brother, Eddie Goff. Mrs. Rubie was a homemaker and a member of Nahunta Church of God. She loved quilting, praying, reading her bible and playing the tambourine. Mrs. Rubie was a great person and loved by all. She will be truly missed. Survivors include her 10 children and their spouses, Mary & Arlo Williams of Jacksonville, FL, James & Barbara Forrister of Adrian, GA, Brenda Ann & Walter H., Jr. Fones of Nahunta, Rebecca Warren of Nahunta, Daniel & Rita Forrister of Hickox, Lamar Dennis & Judy Forrister of Pryor, OK, Weltha Cannon of Ocoee, FL, Barbara & Deno Carbe of Australia, Richard & Debbie Forrister of Nahunta and Clinton & Russella Forrister of Hickox; 19 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin & Earline Goff of Arkansas and Max Kennedy of Little Rock, Arkansas; a sister, Mayme DePriest of Bonifaye, FL; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (January 9, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Friday morning (January 10, 2014) at 11AM at Nahunta Church of God with Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Burial will follow in Five Oaks Cemetery, Hickox. Pallbearers will be Shane Coker, Stephen Forrister, Richard Forrister, Randall Fones, Arlo Williams, James Forrister and Clinton Forrister. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
