Hoboken- Ruby "Carolyn" Ingle Mercer, 77, of Hoboken died early Tuesday morning (June 28, 2011) at her daughter's residence with her two daughters by her side after an extended illness. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina her parents were D.C. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Agnes Pender Ingle. She is also preceded in death by her 1st husband Ronnie Guinn, Sr.; her 2nd husband of 29 years, Jessie Mercer; a daughter, Kim Guinn; and a brother Earl Ingle. Carolyn was the store manager for Ingles Grocery where she worked from 7AM til 9PM everyday except Sundays. She loved her customers and was a legend along with her parents in the Hickox Community. Also in the mid 70's, she ran a clothing store in Nahunta and became well known for her scratch cakes throughout Brantley County. She was also a member of Hickox Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Joe & Denease Guinn of Tampa; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Susan & Gary Altman of Hoboken, Joyce & Michael Moore, Sr. and Denise McQuaig all of Nahunta; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph & Gina Andrew of Florida, Steven & Teresa Guinn of Waycross, Stanley & Wendy Guinn of Nahunta, Riley & Kathy Altman of Hoboken, Teresa & David Thrift of Hoboken, Mike Moore and Roger Moore both of Nahunta; 9 great grandchildren, Jacob Guinn and Jordan Guinn both of Florida, Noelle Guinn and Dylan Guinn both of Nahunta, Levin Guinn of Blackshear, Taylor Moore, Katelyn Moore & Michael Moore all of Waycross, Natilee Moore of Nahunta, Kelly Walsh of Waycross, Ladell Hanchey, Leandra Hanchey and Brooke Smith of Waycross; special friends, Dottie & Virgil Rowell; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (June 30, 2011) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Friday morning (July 1, 2011) at 11 A.M. from the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Dr. W. Derrell Rentz, Rev. E.C. Crews and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Hickox. Pallbearers will be Steve Guinn, Stanley Guinn, David Thrift, Joey Guinn, Mike Moore and Roger Moore. Honorary pallbearer will be Teresa Thrift her only granddaughter. The family would like to give special thanks to Okefenokee EMS transporters, Ryan & Dickey; Heartland Hospice, Geneva, Kristy, Melissa and all the nurses; Davita Dialysis in Jesup and Waycross; Dr. Bowen, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Tucker, Rev.
