Ruby Lane Davis Pierce

Mrs. Ruby Inez Lane Davis Pierce, 79, of Hortense went home to the Lord Friday evening (August 27, 2010) at her residence surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Born on July 20, 1931 in the community of Browntown in Brantley Co. her parents were Weldon Colquitt & Elizabeth Richardson Lane of the Browntown community. She is also preceded in death by her two husbands, Raymond Clancy Davis and Rayford Leroy Pierce and baby girl Davis; 8 brothers, Colquitt Lane, Vinson Lane, Elison Lane, Vernon Lane, J.W. Lane & Elbert Lane and 2 sisters, Villion Lane Smith and Annie Lou Lane Harris. Ruby was a homemaker and a resident of Hortense for many years. She also attended God's Dwelling Place and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond C. & Pauline Davis of Hickox, David Wayne & Sara Davis of Patterson, Jefferson C. & Anita Davis, Richard Lee & Donna Davis and Billy Joe Davis all of Hortense; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Linda & Robert Thorn of Milledgeville, GA and Charlotte Jerrell Davis of Cleveland, GA; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Milton & Odessa Lane of Brunswick and W.C. Lane of the Trudy Community; a very special friend, Louise Hodge of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (August 29, 2010) from 6-9 P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Monday morning (August 30, 2010) at 11 A.M. at Atkinson Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Raymond Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons, Raymond C. Davis, David Wayne Davis, Jefferson C. Davis, Richard Lee Davis, Billy Joe Davis and her oldest grandson, David C. Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Hendrix, Caleb Davis, Robert Thorn and Joshua Colson. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
