Nahunta - Ruby Lee Griffin Jacobs, 99, of Nahunta died early Tuesday morning (November 23, 2010) at her residence after a brief illness. Born in Hoboken her parents were George Ruel and Minnie Lee Davis Griffin. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Fulton Jacobs and 3 sisters, Amy Jacobs, Iva Cook and Leona Amundson. Ms. Ruby was a homemaker and had attended the Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro in her earlier years. After college she became a teacher for several years at Hickox Elementary School. She also attended Hickox Baptist Church and loved flowers and gardening. Survivors include her 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert & Delores Jacobs of Jesup and Travis Jacobs of Nahunta; 6 grandchildren, Gary & Molly Jacobs of Hartsville, GA, Russell & Donna Auldridge of Odum, Jay & Tammy Jacobs of Jesup, Steven & Jodie Hilson of Thomasville, GA, Chad & Jennifer Scruggs of Nahunta and Jill O'Quinn of Nahunta; 19 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lavada Cason of Waycross, Mary Crews and Christine Dryden both of Hoboken; a sister-in-law, Undine Jacobs of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (November 26, 2010) starting at 6 PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (November 27, 2010) at 11 AM at Hickox Baptist Church with Dr. W. Derrell Rentz officiating. Ms. Ruby G. Jacobs will lay in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Jacobs, Jay Jacobs, Steven Hilson, Chad Scruggs, Russell Auldridge, R.J. Auldridge and J.R. Jacobs. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home.
